Medicinal plants and herbal products in malaria treatment in Ghana

The use of various medicinal plants for the treatment of diverse disease conditions is common in Ghana. This book contains medicinal plants used to treat malaria in the Bosomtwe and Sekyere East Districts of the Ashanti Region (Ghana) and compared them to the formulae of marketed herbal remedies registered by Ghana''s Food and Drug Authority for the treatment of malaria. The book also reports the evolution of home-made extemporaneous preparations to large scale commercial finished herbal antimalarial products in Ghana. The potential implications and prospects of this development for healthcare and the environment were also discussed.
