Melancholy

1869. The poems of which a literal prose translation is now offered to the English reader enjoy a popularity in Russia which they can scarcely expect to obtain in a foreign country. Ralston has translated about half of the entire collection of Krilofs fables. He confined his efforts to the production of what he hoped was a faithful prose rendering of Krilofs poetry. This version aims at possessing something of a photographs fidelity.
