About The Book

Technology has advanced at such a pace that the memory of the hand-to-mouth existence of the war years has faded. Children no longer have the freedoms we had. Life then was simpler but not any less difficult. Mothers either stayed at home or only undertook part-time work to implement their husband's wages. Few working class people owned their own homes and the only drugs prevalent were cigarettes and alcohol. This is a record as I remember it through my childhood of how life was as these times will be soon lost for ever.
