In view of demographic developments an increase in the population's need for care is to be expected in the future. Informal care provided by relatives plays an important role in nursing care. This is largely provided by women although men already account for a significant proportion of family care which will increase further in the future. However male carers are still largely ignored by society. This paper aims to show how men experience informal care for adult relatives in the home and how the support needs of men are described in the scientific literature dealing with the experiences of male carers. To this end a systematic literature search was conducted between June and August 2016. Thirteen research papers were used to answer the question.
