Mentality and identities in contemporary Russia

In the context of information post-industrial society and globalization in the world which affects all spheres of human life modernization is an indicator of social progress and for modern Russia it has become an urgent need and an imperative. Further consideration should be given not only to the modernization process in Russia but also to the domestic mentality associated with modernization (which defines it and is defined by it). Reference to ethno-cultural mentality in the conditions of modernizing Russian society is important for identifying the prospects and strategies for the country's development which makes the topic of this study particularly relevant. The present stage of Russian modernisation without and outside globalisation is not feasible but the extent and forms of Russia's presence in a globalising world its choice of strategies for existence and finally its retroactive impact on global processes including globalisation still have to be determined.
