Mentors Matter

<p><em>Why this book?</em></p><p><em>Effective leaders do two things to find and maintain their success. First they surround themselves with exceptional people. Second they listen more than speak. That simple strategy allowed the mentors in my life- ranging from parents teachers coaches principals and administrators-to shape me into the best teacher and educational administrator that I could be.</em></p><p><em>I wasn't an academic natural and some advisors told me to skip the college experience. Yet with the encouragement of two loving parents college professors coworkers and supervisors I found a pathway through higher education and into a long and fulfilling career. My journey wasn't without stumbles but I always recovered learned from my mistakes and listened to the wise words from my mentors. They molded me into the person and professional I am today.
