حكى أنّ نوح، بعد الطوفان، سأل ابنه أن يبني هيكلًا يشبه الفلك، في وسطه مذبح تشتعل فيه نار لا تنطفئ، وأن يجمع فيه تسعة رجال يسمّون رفاق الفلك. نفّذ الابن الوصيّة، ومضت السنوات والفلك على حالها، إنّما رفاق الفلك على تغيّر: فبدل أن يكتفوا بما هو ضروريّ، جمعوا أملاكًا، وذهبًا، ومالًا، وتحوّلوا كهنة منكبّين على حماية قشور الدين وسطحية كهنوته. ثمّ حدث أن توفّي أحد الرفاق، فطرق باب الفلك شابّ طلب من أن ينضمّ إليهم. رفض المسؤول ناقضًا تقاليد الفلك، وما عاد عن رأيه إلّا ليضمّ الشابّ إليهم خادمًا وليس رفيقًا. بحلول الشابّ على الفلك، حلّت معه الوفرة... ولعنة أخرست المسؤول وسمّرته إلى أرض الهيكل. في جبال الآس واللُّبان، على القمّة الشاهقة المعروفة بـقمّة المذبح، ما تزال بقايا هيكل مهجور، متهدّم، يدعى الفلْك. أمّا تاريخه فقد غاب في لججٍ سحيقةٍ من القِدَمِ تنتهي، في عرف التقاليد، إلى الطوفان.<br>كثيرة هي الأساطير التي حاكتها الأيّام حول الفلك. لكنّما الأسطورة الأكثر رواجًا هي التي سمعتها مرارًا من أفواه القاطنين في سفح قمّة المذبح حيث أُتيح لي ذات سنة أن أمضي صيفًا بكامله. وها أنا أرويها كما سمعتها...<br>It is said that Noah after the flood asked his son to build a temple resembling the Ark with an altar in its center where a fire that never goes out burns and to gather nine men called 'Companions of the Ark.' The son fulfilled the will and years passed with the Ark remaining the same but the Companions of the Ark changed: instead of being content with what is necessary they accumulated properties gold and money and transformed into priests devoted to protecting the shells of religion and the superficiality of its priesthood. Then it happened that one of the companions died and a young man knocked on the door of the Ark asking to join them. The person in charge refused breaking the Ark's traditions and only changed his mind to include the young man as a servant not a companion. With the young man's arrival at the Ark abundance came with him... and a curse that silenced the person in charge and nailed him to the ground of the temple.<br>In the mountains of myrtle and frankincense on the towering peak known as the Altar Peak there still remain ruins of an abandoned dilapidated temple called the Ark. As for its history it has disappeared into deep depths of antiquity that end according to tradition at the Flood.Many are the legends that days have woven around the Ark. But the most popular legend is the one I heard repeatedly from the mouths of those living at the foot of the Altar Peak where I once had the opportunity to spend an entire summer. And here I narrate it as I heard it.
