About The Book

The present study was carried out in the department of Microbiology between January 2013 to September 2014 on the Coagulase negative Staphylococci isolates isolated from the sterile clinical samples in a rural hospital of central India.- The study was performed on 88 CoNS isolates from the sterile clinical samples isolatedduring the period of January 2013 to September 2014.- A total of 6619 sterile clinical samples were processed for aerobic culture out of which 841(12.70%) samples were culture positive.- Out of 841 culture positive 321(38.17%) were Coagulase positive Staphylococci 216(25.68) were Klebsiella species 88(10.46%) were CoNS 57(6.78%) were Escherichia coli 54(6.42%) were Pseudomonas species 49(5.83%) were Acinetobacter species 21(2.50%) were Enterococcus species 7(0.83%) were Streptococcus species 5(0.59%) were Salmonella species and 23(2.50%) were Citrobacter koseri Cornybacterium species Listeria monocytogenes Micrococci species and Candida.- Isolation rate of CoNS amongst culture positive was 10.46%- 86(97.73%) CoNS were isolated from the blood and one (1.14%) each from CSF and pleural fluid.
