Metrology and Ecosystem Management for Sustainable Development

About The Book

It is sometimes very difficult to be able to realize the degree of pollution of ecosystems given the diffuse nature of the pollution. Metrology applied to the environment seems to be the ideal solution for measuring and locating the deterioration or even disappearance of certain ecosystems. The various physico-chemical and bacteriological applications carried out in the laboratories of the Faculty of Sciences and the University Clinics have made it possible to discover the very pronounced degree of water pollution of the N''djili River in the section between Cecomaf and the Regideso catchment bridge. The pollution observed is essentially due to the non-ecological actions taken by the inhabitants who live along the river with the principle of Everything to the sewer. This highly scientific and educational work not only makes it possible to realize that the water of the N''djili River is polluted but also makes it easier for the public authorities to regulate this environmental resource in order to preserve intergenerational equity through three principles: precaution prevention and action.
