MIA Syndrome in Chronic Kidney Disease

About The Book

Cardiovascular disease has overcome the other causes of mortality in chronic kidney disease patients being the number one cause of morbidity and mortality in this population encountering for a 10-20 times higher mortality than that of the normal population. It is very intriguing that the extremely high mortality can not be explained by traditional cardiovascular risk factors. In this book are discussed the theoretical aspects of frequent coexistence and powerful interaction between malnutrition inflammation and atherosclerosis ( known as MIA syndrome) and the strong impact in the cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. There is also described and discussed a clinical study about the presence of this syndrome in chronic kidney disease patients in the pre-dialysis and dialysis stage.
