Michel Foucault and the Aesthetics of Existence

For Michel Foucault the aesthetics of existence is necessarily linked to the idea of freedom and resistance. Composing a beautiful life would therefore mean resisting the strategies of the knowledge/power relationship. This book is the beginning of a vast field of analyses by the French philosopher. Greco-Roman culture becomes an important historical moment in terms of the diversity of practices of the self that would later be modified by Christianity and Cartesian philosophy.
