Micro Finance for Development of Fisherman

Fishery is now a popular business in different parts of the district where not onlyfishermen but also people belonging to different castes creeds and colours arealso engaged. However in the coastal belt ‘Noliyas’ are the dominating communitywho are taking keen interest in marine fishing. It is not out of place to mention thatan exhaustive study of fishing industry is found in the country as a whole. Thehistorical development of the trade in Ganjam district is also traced and analysed.It also studies how the liberalized policy of the government in the banking sectorhas affected people for developing a favourable attitude. In 22 blocks and oneNotified Area Council Gopalpur it is found that fishing has become one of themeans of livelihood though it causes a lot of hardship to them. Interestingly marinefishing now a very popular business deposit difficulties on the part of those engagedin this trade has invited the attention of the investigator to make a detailed studyand analyse the related data with regard to it. The part played by differentcommercial banks such as State Bank of India Andhra Bank Punjab NationalBank UCO Bank etc. has been exhaustively dealt with numerically.
