Microalgae as environmental solution

About The Book

In recent decades many areas of the world have been affected by eutrophication a phenomenon that leads to an overgrowth of algae on the water surface causing severe environmental imbalance. The project provides an innovative solution to the problem merging architecture and biotechnology in a sustainable way. It is in this context that on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra the Bio Architecture Center is imagined: a complex of buildings that takes inspiration from the shape color and movement of microalgae. This center which has as main goals to filter the lake water and produce biological products creates a living body that fascinates and surrounds the visitor completely.
