Microbiological Profile of Burn Wound and Diabetic Foot Infections

Burn wound and diabetic foot infections can cause significant morbidity and mortality. Where burn wound infection can cause severe sepsis and diabetic foot infections can lead to amputation. Burn wound and diabetic foot infections are affecting after loss of skin immunity.bacteria predominant organism was Pseudomonas aeruginosa followed by Klebsiella species Proteus species Citrobacter species and Acinetobacter was common in both infections and in gram positive bacteria staphylococcus aureus was common aerobic bacteria. In burn wound infections common anaerobic bacteria was Peptostreptococcus and followed by Bacteroides Eubacterium and fusiform bacterium. In diabetic foot infection common organism was Bacteroides species followed by Peptostreptococcus and Eubacterium. Common fungal isolates was Candida and there is an Aspergillus species also isolated from diabetic foot infection.
