Micropropagation & Assessement of Genetic Diversity In Banana Cv

About The Book

The present investigation entitled “Micropropagation and assessment of genetic diversity in different cultivars of banana using PCR based technology” was conducted at the Centre for Plant Biotechnology (CPB) CCS Haryana Agricultural University campus with the objectives to improve in vitro multiplication rate of banana to study the genetic diversity of all cultivated banana available throughout Haryana and to study the genetic fidelity of in vitro raised banana cultivars in comparison to their mother plant. Two cultivars viz. ‘Robusta’ and ‘Grand naine’ were selected to study the in vitro multiplication of banana. the present investigation was planned with the following objectives: I. To develop efficient micropropagation protocols of two banana cultivars i. e. Robusta and G-9 and to examine the effect of newer chemicals and growth substances on micropropagation of banana. II. Assess the genetic diversity amongst various banana cultivars using molecular markers. III. To test the genetic fidelity of tissue culture raised plants.
