Micropropagation of Furcraea gigantea

The main emphasis of our work was to develop a suitable method for large scale in vitro micropropagation of the selected varieties. It is now possible to grow hundreds of plantlets by the tissue culture method. This investigation clearly demonstrated efficient method of in vitro propagation of Furcraea gigantea. All the four different stage of standard micro propagation technique has been worked out. The optimum requirement for establishment proliferation rooting & acclimatization were standardized which resulted in higher multiplication and it is estimated that using this technique it is possible to obtained 10-12 cm plantlets height for field transfer.
