<p></p><p>Before the watershed moment of Joan of Arc's emergence onto the historical scene in 1429 Charles the Dauphin of France was derisively called by the English and their Burgundian allies the King of Bourges yet by his death in 1461 he had presided over the expulsion of the English from all of their continental possessions except Calais. Were it not for a teenage peasant maiden however history might have taken a different course...</p><p></p><p>She arrived suddenly in the spring of 1429. Her dramatic appearance and short but impactful mission were legendary even in her own times yet her star would explode in the fires of martyrdom almost as quickly as it rose. Held prisoner for the final year of her life from May 23 1430 until May 30 1431 she perished in flames at the stake at Rouen like a nova whose time had come.</p><p></p><p>But her story lives on...</p><p></p><p>Joan of Arc.
