MIXED LIGAND COMPLEXES OF 11-DITHIOLATES: Transition metal complexes of 11-dicyanoethylene-22-dithiolate/1-cyano-1-carboethoxyethylene-22-dithiolate have received considerable attention of coordination chemistry since long because of their relative ease of formation of various types binary ternary and heterobimetallic complexes used as analytical reagents biocides and more recently as biochemical models and due to varied bonding and stereochemical possibilities presented by them. The literature survey presented in the introductory chapter shows that no work has been done on mixed ligand complexes of Co(II)Ni(II)Zn(II)and Cd(II) with 11-dicyanoethylene-22-dithiolate/1-cyano-1-carboethoxyethylene-22-dithiolate and nitrogen donor specially with aromatic diamines such as o-phenylenediamine (OPD) and their reaction products with heterocyclic ternary monoamine [pyridine (py) α-picoline (α-pic) β-picoline (β-pic) or γ-picoline (γ-pic)]. It was therefore thought of interest to undertake synthesis and structural studies on mixed ligand complexes of Co(II) Ni(II) Zn(II) and Cd(II) with some nitrogen and sulphur donors by physico-chemical techniques.
