About The Book

River pollution in India is increasing day by day due to unplanned urbanised and rapid growth of industrialisation and discharge of untreated domestic sewage. Industrialisation has its inevitable effect on pollution of air water and soil based on the type of industry nature of raw materials used and the manufacturing processes involved. In the present work biochemical parameters like total phenols total carbohydrates amino acid proteins and chlorophylls of the test plants used are analysed by treating them with different concentrations of SO2 NH3 and heavy metals like Pb and Hg. Plant indicators can be relied upon for assessing pollutant levels. the present study clearly permits to conclude that some plant species and varieties are so sensitive to pollutants that they assist man in planning the urban industries. this work suggests that differential susceptibility of plant to pollutants may be conveniently used for detection and monitoring biological effects at various levels of plant life.
