Through a combination of relevant images and descriptive text it presents the entire process of designing and creating the New Tang Suit covering aspects such as how the garment was named its historical evolution an overview of its styles and characteristics fabric development and research sizing specifications pattern making cutting and sewing techniques. It also introduces the development and evolution of Chinese clothing as well as traditional garment craftsmanship techniques-such as piping edging trim insertion decorative strips knotted buttons embroidery and ornamentation-along with theoretical and other knowledge related to the New Tang Suit.The numerous photographs and technical data on the New Tang Suit featured in the book are derived from actual items and practical production during the design and creation of the attire for leaders at the 2001 APEC Summit in Shanghai.
