About The Book

In this study novel phthalonitriles 31314 and their corresponding metal-free 4 and metallo phthalocyanine derivatives (56715161718) bearing differents groups were synthesized and characterized. 34-dihydropyrimidinones have been synthesized in good yields by a modified Biginelli-type reaction with various metallophthalocyanines 8-23 as catalysts. Among the various metallophthalocyanines studied cobalt(II)- phthalocyanine was found to be most active for this transformation. The newly prepared compounds were characterized using elemental analysesMS IR 1H/13C NMR and UV–vis spectroscopy. In addition; the 34-dihydropyrimidinones 8-12 were investigated for anti-oxidant activities by super oxide radical; DPPH (22-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl); and hydroxyl radical scavenging assays; in which most of them displayed significant antioxidant activities. Furthermore; compounds 8-12 were evaluated for anti-inflammatory activity by indirect haemolytic and lipoxygenase inhibition assays and revealed good activity.
