This thesis is entitled Mongo Beti''s Writing Work: A Transtextual and Intermedial Reading of his Fictions. The demonstration aims to answer the following research question: How do borrowed texts literary genres literature history and media integrate Mongo Beti''s fictions how do they interact and what are the effects and meanings generated by these interactions in the host narratives? To answer this question we adopt comparative theory and transtextual intratextual mythocritical and intermedial methods. We postulate that Mongo Beti''s writing constantly integrates over time a constellation of texts literary genres history the arts and mass media in implicit and explicit modes in the forms of allusions quotations references collages borrowings and variations and in processes of transformation and adaptation. The results obtained reveal first of all an impressive network of constant scriptural practices identifiable on a particular paratext characterized by the inscription of a mosaic of texts and media.
