<p>H. De Vere Stacpoole (1863-1951) was an Irish author best known for his novel <em>The Blue Lagoon</em> which became a classic adventure and romance story. Stacpoole's writing often focused on exotic settings combining adventure with romantic and sometimes tragic themes. In addition to fiction he was also a physician which lent medical accuracy to some of his works. His career spanned more than five decades during which he wrote novels short stories and essays gaining a loyal readership for his vivid storytelling and imaginative plots.</p>
