In the wake of his mother's passing Maldwyn must flee the country and finds himself in the comfort of the Anhalt Mountains with the Erendil.</p><p>There Maldwyn learns of Prince Harlan's secret plans to protect his sister Princess Cassara while promising his father to expose and defeat the traitorous Lord of Karana Downs Lord Darius.
