MORE THAN HALF THE SKY WOMEN SELF HELP GROUPS

When we think of farmers labourers artisans industrial workers or soldiers the images that we recall are invariably of men ploughing the fields carrying loads creating artifacts wielding weapons etc. This is in stark contrast of images that we draw of women. We recall women often in ghoonghat mostly carrying a child feeding the cattle or cooking. Expanding our field of vision we may recall them carrying pitchers of water sowing and harvesting in the fields engaging in cottage industries serving as teachers nurses etc. Even in the modern world women who do not engage themselves in the organized sector are often termed house wives.
