Morphology

Morphology explores the inner and outer worlds of both my personal journey as a queer non-binary older adult and of others in the queer community. Through a series of portraits self portraits and intimate landscape shots and their paired poems this journey is given a voice and a face. It was born from a series of portraits that I took of my friend Kurt preparing for a drag show. As I began to explore my own gender identity the poems emerged and the kernel of Morphology began to take shape.Poems are often viewed separately from the visual arts but for me they are intertwined with the images that they evoke. It is also my hope that I can help to normalize the concept of non-binary persons as not only applying to the younger generation.
