Morphology of artisanal mining in DR Congo.

This study is a compilation of research carried out over a ten-year period from 2007 to 2019 in the dismembered provinces of Katanga. It provides additional information on existing knowledge relating to the functioning of the artisanal mining sector in this region. The artisanal mining sector as observed in the Katanga region is polymorphic in nature difficult to describe and analyse characterised by numerous interconnections the mixing of formal and informal circuits and the superimposition of economic and political interests. This is the factor that explains its raison d''être its nature its economic functions and its social dysfunction. Thus its salvation depends on the strengthening of the capacities of the support supervision and control bodies on the one hand and the respect of the legal and regulatory framework by the actors concerned on the other.
