About The Book

Both the landscape and the Moroccan or Arab landscape do not cease to arouse in the Spanish imaginary an assortment of stereotyped images that appear and disappear (in literary or media key) in a guadianesque way as a result of the socio-political and economic conjunctures that mark the bilateral relations between Morocco and Spain. The present book is an invitation to make a new reading of those novels whose authors have been labeled by critics as pro-Arab or pro-Muslim. A reading that does not intend to pillory these writers much less question their merits as creators of works of fiction about Morocco as groundbreaking Spanish men and women reconciled with their Arab and Muslim roots.Mor@s de ficción y de dicción aims to make both Spanish-speaking Moroccan and Western readers reflect on the power of stereotypes on our subconscious on how when an image of otherness is forged we find it extremely difficult to uproot them on the resilience of imagotypes and the immunity they acquire against any attempt at demystification.
