Mosul

About The Book

In 2004 Chaplain James Pennington deployed to Mosul Iraq with the 1st Brigade 25th Infantry Division (Stryker). Serving as Battalion Chaplain for the 25th Brigade Support Battalion he ministered to soldiers as they endured the chaos and hardships of combat. His deployment spanned some of the most pivotal moments of the Iraq War from the infamous Mess Tent Bombing to Iraq's first free elections.Based on the author's own deployment experiences this fictionalized account follows an Army Reserve chaplain who returns home from war to serve as a pastor while struggling to reconcile the realities of combat with the demands of faith ministry and everyday life. Mosul serves as a companion to the author's later nonfiction memoir Refined by Fire which recounts the real-life events and experiences that inspired this story.
