For two centuries the immigrant ancestors of Allie Aletha Flinn traveling often dangerous and desolate mountain trails and river roads settled the North American continent. From one generation to the next they moved inexorably westward crossing mountains prairie and plains. Between Pennsylvania and California they became the founding mothers and fathers of Clarksburg West Virginia; Lancaster Ohio; Goshen Indiana; Montevideo Minnesota and a dozen other cities and villages. Arguably it was their destiny whether manifest or not. They were adventuresome people. This is their story . . . and the story of the United States of America . . . as best we can tell it.
