Much More Than A Stooge

<p><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Shemp Howard</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> was a gifted physical actor and ad-libber yet his career oddly seemed at times to fly-under-the-radar. A century ago his onstage life began as the original Stooge for superstar </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Ted Healy</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> ultimately gracing Broadway. Alongside brother </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Moe Howard</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> with </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Larry Fine </strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>- the nucleus of </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>The Three Stooges</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> - they appeared in the feature film </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)><em>Soup to Nuts</em></strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>. He went solo in 105 movies with stars like </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>John Wayne</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>James Stewart</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>W.C. Fields</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> and </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Abbott and Costello</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>.</span></p><p><br></p><p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Returning to </span><strong style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>The Three Stooges</strong><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> in place of ailing younger brother Jerome (Curly) Shemp saved the act from prematurely ending but sadly he died at the rather young age of 60 in 1955.
