About The Book

The high prevalence of MSDs in porters has important occupational health implications. Workers in the informal sector such as porters often lack access to ergonomic interventions health awareness programs or medical support. Unlike industrial laborers they do not benefit from workplace safety regulations or formal occupational health policies. Preventive strategies such as load management provision of mechanical aids (e.g. trolleys or lifting devices) ergonomics-based training and health education could significantly reduce their burden of MSDs. In addition periodic physiotherapy camps regular screening and simple stretching/strengthening exercises can help improve musculoskeletal health and prolong work capacity.
