Mushrooms of Cameroon

About The Book

Using beautiful images and meticulous descriptions Dr Nérée Onguene Awana presents in this book different species of wild edible and symbiotic mushrooms endemic to natural humid forests of Cameroon. With more than 400 illustrated colored photos this work on “Mushrooms of Cameroon” is the first complete guide on mushrooms of Africa. All images were taken in nature to preserve different habitats and niches where mushroom species grow. In total this book regroups more than 70 species of wild edible saprotrophic mushrooms 22 species of termites mutually associated mushrooms (Termitomyces) and more than 150 tree-symbiotic mushrooms with only tree species belonging to both Ceasalpiniaceae and Uapaca spp. These symbiotic tree species called ectomycorrhizal mushrooms always grow gregariously in clumps. Such even-aged forest stands that prevails throughout the Congo Basin should be integrally preserved as biological sanctuaries.
