My Girls

Jill M. Starkey shared her series of figurative works with me on a quiet Sunday afternoon on Central Plaza. I was immediately captivated by her well-observed lively pastel paintings which she fondly refers to as 'My Girls'. The body of work showcases her ability to create fine lines which sensually capture the movement of the sitter's hair and body with particular skill. The development of the spare delicate style for which Jill is known is evident throughout the works presented in this publication. The variety of textural effects which Jill achieves with the medium depending on its formulation and application makes it particularly suited to the representation of the figurative nude.
