Helen Wingate in her 79th year is a published Poet easing smoothly into prose in this revealing account of her numerous home moves starting in her Scottish childhood. Though non-autobiographical her descriptions of family domestic and world events are at times amusing shocking and on others downright horrific. The constant background theme for herself husband and children throughout is self-motivation towards achievement engendered through previous harsh experience. From the place of her birth she colourfully describes dwellings from pre WW2 right up to the 21st century from the humble to the sheer luxurious.
