After his retirement from work in 2016 Indrajit used to go to London every year with his wife Subhadra to spend a few months with their daughter Sudeshna and her family who lived in a quiet neighbourhood in East London. London offered a rich variety of pastimes which included visiting theatres musicals art exhibitions and museums. A number of historical castles and ancient churches were within driving distance. There was tennis at Wimbledon Cricket at the Lord’s and soccer at the Wembley. And then there were the famous newspapers like the Times of London and TV channels like the BBC which together provided a rich fare for his mind. In his spare time Indrajit captured many of his explorations around London especially those that captured his interest and shared them with a group of his friends by email. He titled his mails “Letters from London”. The second part of the book comprises many layered memories from Indrajit’s life. It is a mixed bag of his observations thoughts and opinions on a variety of subjects. These subjects are completely random and not sequenced in any particular order so the readers have the freedom to fleet through them in any order that suits them. Indrajit is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur from where he graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1968. After earning his MBA he joined IBM India as a Systems Engineer in their Marketing Department in Kolkata and worked with IBM India until IBM’s phase out from India in June 1978. He later pursued a career in IT in various management and consulting positions both in India and abroad. Indrajit retired from work in 2016 and has now returned to India and settled down in Kolkata where he lives with his wife Subhadra.
