This volume is a reflective and motivational collection of speeches pieces prayers and musings. In it the reader will discover the importance of knowing one's history being able to establish a sense of identity in a hostile environment having pride in one's self speaking out and advocating for others and that the secret to a contented life is to willingly give thanks while requiring no thanks from others. The author shares what it was like growing up in the segregated south under the oppressive cloud of Jim Crow and how she overcame such oppression through the mentoring and support of caring teachers and extended family.
