About The Book

Nanotechnology is a fascinating field of science where various disciplines of natural sciences converge at the nanoscale. It involves the manipulation of matter at the molecular and atomic levels leading to groundbreaking advancements in multiple fields. In dentistry this innovation has given rise to Nanodentistry revolutionizing dental materials treatments and diagnostics. In recent years there has been a growing interest in nanomaterials nanotechnology and nanoparticles in dentistry as evidenced by the increasing number of publications. Notably one-third of all tissue engineering research is focused on dental applications. This book reviews recent advancements in nanomaterials and nanotechnologies for dental restoration. The focus was on two major categories of nanomaterials: bioactive and bioinert. Bioactive nanomaterials include hydroxyapatite tricalcium phosphate and bioglass while bioinert nanomaterials consist of alumina zirconia titanium and vitreous carbon. Additionally emerging trends and future prospects in dental nanomaterials were explored.
