Nano-therapeutic Agents in Medicine and Pharmacy

The book Nano-therapeutic Agents in Medicine and Pharmacy is organized into three chapters. Over the past decades technological progress has paved the way for innovative solutions in both medical and pharmaceutical sciences. Among the most promising directions is nano-therapy a branch of nanotechnology that employs nanoscale materials (1-100 nm) for the diagnosis treatment and prevention of diseases. Therapeutic nanomaterials have the potential to transform conventional medicine by providing treatments that are more precise effective and personalized while reducing side effects. In the field of pharmacy they enable the development of drugs with improved bioavailability controlled release and the ability to selectively target diseased tissues or cells. The main advantages of nano-therapeutic approaches include the selective targeting of diseased cells through the functionalization of nanoparticles with specific ligands allowing them to recognize and attack only the affected cells (such as tumor cells) and the reduction of adverse effects since localized drug delivery minimizes the impact on healthy tissues.
