Nanodentistry: Current Perspectives & Future Challenges

About The Book

In 1959 the late Nobel Prize winning physicist Richard P. Feynman presented a talk entitled “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom” at the annual meeting of the American Physical Society. Since then we have made remarkable progress toward realizing Feynman’s vision. Diverse researchers working together under the nanodentistry umbrella will produce findings with potential medical uses: preventing diagnosing and treating human diseases as well as relieving pain. Nanodentistry will make it possible to maintain a near perfect oral. The nanorobotic functions may be controlled by an onboard nanocomputer that executes preprogrammed instructions in response to local sensor stimuli. The future of nanodenistry will depend on rational design of nanotechnology materials and tools based around a detailed and thorough understanding of biological processes rather than forcing applications for some materials currently in vogue. This project will enlighten the dental practitioners and the academicians about current and futuristic applications of nanotechnology in the field of dental sciences.
