NASA Propulsion: Rockets Away

Students explore Newtons third law of motion which states that for every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction -- in this case mainly up up and away! The first section of the lesson plan provides a brief history of rockets and rocketry. The second section contains a variety of hands-on experiments that explore the concepts of rocketry using everything from soda pop cans to antacid tablets to launching rockets. Activities are especially suited to grades 5-12 but can be adapted for lower grades.
