National Disaster Risk Management Policy

About The Book

This work is the result of collaboration between the Guinean government and the European Union. Recently the Government of the Republic of Guinea decided to strengthen its legislative strategic institutional and operational framework to prepare for and respond to potential crises. On the recommendation of ECOWAS which proposed to member countries the development of a comprehensive risk reduction and disaster management policy as well as the establishment of a national risk and disaster management agency which would take into account all risks regardless of their nature and magnitude and in all phases of their management the European Union-funded PARSS project (Programme d''Appui au Renforcement du Secteur de la Sécurité) in collaboration with Guinean stakeholders from the WADPI project facilitated the development of this national policy. The objective of this policy is to provide the Guinean state with a central structure to unify and coordinate government actions in risk and disaster management.
