Ivorian law allows for the transmission of Ivorian nationality. This transmission is not only by blood but also in the course of one's life as it can be acquired by marriage adoption naturalization reinstatement and exceptionally by declaration.Nationality though acquired can be lost. Such loss is subject to well-defined conditions laid down by the Ivorian legislator following a duly established procedure. The legislator through certain provisions tends to implicitly reject the principle of dual nationality (Art. 48 al. 1er of the 1961 law) while certain provisions lead us to believe the opposite (art.51 and 52 of the 1961 law). It would therefore be fairer for the legislator to expressly affirm this rejection.
