Natural Disaster Challenges for Pakistan

Pakistan is one of the countries that remain highly prone to a range of natural disaster challenges including avalanches cyclones/storms droughts earthquakes epidemics floods glacial lake outbursts landslides pest attacks river erosion and tsunami. Off late terrorism sectarian violence and internal conflicts have further fuelled such challenges. Under such conditions a developing country like Pakistan is seriously affected even with a disaster of lower magnitude necessitating development of a comprehensive frame work for disasters management. In view of above critically examine existing system for managing disaster challenges to Pakistan with a view to suggest measures for comprehensive response at national level focusing on aspects of coordination capacity building and legislation.
