About the Book -. Navaras is symbolic of the nine feelings or emotions that a human mind is capable of experiencing. They were first mentioned in Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra somewhere around 300 AD. It is said that all the popular forms of arts like dance music theatre art and literature have evolved from this theory. Navaras has managed to stand the test of times and is still widely used as a reference manual. The main objective of any form of writing is to invoke a certain emotion in the reader. Emotions are like rasas (juice) and the reader gets to taste it while reading different genres. The idea behind writing this book is for the readers to experience the joy of all the nine rasas. Having experienced each of these emotions in varying degrees in a multitude of life experiences the author has gone on to fictionalize these stories. Together this forms a savory platter that promises to satisfy the reader’s senses. We have all attended buffets. They serve sweet spicy tangy hot cold sour and bitter foods. A person may be attracted to any or many of such flavors. Indeed variety is the spice of life. The author has kept this in mind while writing this book. Alternatively you may also consider this to be a bouquet of lovely flowers each different in colour and fragrance.. About the Author -.
