New challenges in the management of mineral resources in Africa

The new challenges in the mining sector are of various kinds. They are essentially environmental management transparency in the management of mining resources human rights issues and local content. All these issues are now increasingly provided for in the mining legislation of West African states. From legal sources these provisions are reinforced by the rules on Social and Environmental Responsibility of voluntary origins but considered as good practices in the management of mining resources and gold mining in particular.
