In Hinduism there are gods goddesses and demons and the people upon the Earth are represented as petitioning the angels who pass down their gifts to the worshipful from heaven above which gifts are then appropriated by the demons so that the prayerful receive nothing. As Chitragupta is a god of death it’s useful to scrutinize the concept of sin and death being inextricably linked in Judeo-Christian terms. Jesus for example is believed to have redeemed humanity from death through his crucifixion by agents of the Roman Empire atop the hill of Calvary outside the city of Jerusalem in Palestine because the Jewish religious police objected to his teaching ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ (Mk: 12. 31) Nailed to a cross of wood Jesus died but experienced Resurrection and Ascension to heaven.
