<ul> <li> Advocates the model of 'Cinema of Transitions' to study Hong Kong-related Chinese-language films that are concerned with Hong Kong's sovereignty transfer.</li> <li> Intervenes in the studies of Hong Kong cinema from a combined perspective of Diaspora and East Asian Studies rather than situating the debates among the usual theoretical frameworks of localism or globalisation.</li> <li> Brings discussions of Hong Kong-related Chinese-language films up to date (e.g. inclusive of discussions of several films made in 2013 and 2014).</li> <li> Explores understudied areas of contemporary Hong Kong cinema including animations and empirical audience studies.</li></ul>
