Night Rain over Ba Mountains

<p>During the War of Resistance Against Japan intellectual Li Nanquan fled with his family to the countryside near Chongqing the provisional capital to escape relentless bombings. The village became a microcosm of wartime society housing diverse characters: the rarely seen Director Fang and his privileged family representing the official class who squandered wealth and bullied others despite the nation's crisis; self-interested intellectuals like Shi Zhengshan and Yuan Siwei entangled in scandals devoid of dignity; and others enduring hardship amid inflation and crude shelters. Though lives intertwined dramatically the backdrop remained one of suffering-especially for those clinging to integrity.</p><p>抗战时期，知识分子李南泉带着全家住在临时首都重庆乡下躲避没日没夜的轰炸，同时住在这个村子的还有形形色色的人物，他们共同促成了战时后方的小社会。没有露几次面的方院长和方家的小姐少爷代表的官方阶层，他们秉持着前方吃紧，后方紧吃的原则照常挥金如土且恃强凌弱；以石正山、袁四维等为代表的知识分子家庭，不论前方抗战的环境多么恶劣，依然唯利是图、桃色新闻不断，毫无知识分子的尊严感和道德感......小小的避难乡村有的是故事，各种人物演绎着各自的人生，但是总的生活是苦难的，物价飞涨、房屋简陋，都让坚持着文人风骨和正义感的人们过着痛苦的逃难生活。</p>
