Sam a young opinionated woman who was pregnant left St. Louis to work in a small town in Wyoming. Sam stepped down the steps of the stagecoach from Casper Wyoming. I am here! she shouted to no one in particular. Her stomach did flip-flops as she put her hands on her hips and feet firmly on the ground. Im so excited I think my heart will burst. --She smiled as a cowboy tipped his hat to herOne morning she thought I dont want to get out of bed. My stomach is rolling. Maybe if I put my hands on it that will keep it from moving. Sam looked at her stomach and could see rolling on one side then another. The movement was disconcerting to her. Then she remembered she had read in her baby book about when the baby starts to move. Wow! My stomach. This is exciting the baby is moving inside of me. Sometimes she would just sit to watch and sometimes there was a lot of action. I must continue to work. Nevertheless I do need more rest. Im so fortunate to have Laura here. She ate an egg with toast one morning and felt good. Thankful she didnt have morning sickness anymore she thought of Elizabeth who rode in the stagecoach with her from Casper. Oh my I wonder if she was ill because she too was with child. If so no wonder she was vomiting so often. Me too not from riding in the stagecoach but because Im with child. Well at least I seem to be over all that. Its good to be able to eat regularly. I had better find my book to read about having a baby. Id better know what I need to do. I dont remember anyone in St. Louis who was with child. I probably should be planning but I dont know what. Im sure Ill do just fine. The worst part must be the sickness. Im keeping my food down so Im okay even though Im getting fatter. I better keep wearing my full-skirted dresses so no one will know. Mrs. Lewis the town mid-wife delivered her baby Matt who was loved by everyone. After a tragedy happened Sam had a difficult time recovering and went back to St. Louis to find herself. Her husband Ted came and brought her back home. There they decided to start another business that required more employees. Some of her friends called upon Sam to give them her insightfulness to their problems. Sam Ted and their three children happily lived on the ranch that became The Dude Ranch.
